Colson Performa Wheels have long been a favorite of combat robot builders. The wheels in this series have been used on all sizes of robots, from 1lb Antweights to 340lb SuperHeavyweights! They are very durable, and provide excellent traction.

Performa wheels offer the advantages of both hard and soft tread materials in a single wheel. Like a hard tread wheel, Performa rolls easily and is very durable. Like a soft tread wheel, it rolls quietly, protects floors and resists impacts with a cushion ride. It also features maximum weatherability, low temperature flexibility, resistance to chemicals, water and steam, and rejects floor debris such as metal shavings. Non-marking thermoplastic elastomer tread is permanently bonded to durable polyolefin wheel core. The rubber is 65 ±5 Durometer Shore A scale.

No keyway is provided in these wheels, depending on your application, you may need to add a keyway yourself.

I am new to Battle Bots and I am helping my grandson, so I ordered these wheels since everyone seems to use them. They are very nice but require some thought about how to use them. I have a metal shop so I machined a 1 3/16" bushing with a 1/4" key way and used my 1/4" metal keyway broach to easily broach a keyway into the wheel. The drive bushings are threaded for the drill motors I am going to use and the rears are just simple live axles with free spinning wheels.

We have been using Colson wheels on our FIRST robots for six years now. They are extremely long wearing, have excellent traction even after extended wear. We usually cut a diamond tread pattern for extra traction. We run live axles machining a knurled plug which is bored and broached for our desired drive axles and then press fit into the stock opening.
